General:
Starting from the 13th through to the 17st of September, 2008, Sibiu, Romania will be hosting The Hard Enduro Red Bull Romaniacs International Rally’s fifth edition. Licensed by the Romanian Motorcycle Federation, and offering a total of 15.000 Euros in prize money, the competition starts with a prologue within Sibiu’s town center, followed by 4 days of competition along a difficult and entailing course, which will go through the Southern Carpathians. The start, as well as the finish lines of every day’s stage will take place in Sibiu.
The Track:
The track comprises several technical crossings, which offer an entailing aspect. The Enduro Motorbikes Series will be enough, but it is necessary for them to have at least 80km autonomy.
Unfolding along well-chosen mountain areas, rocky grounds, hills and valleys, the track is a real challenge to all classes. Due to the track’s difficulty level a high abandon rate is predicted.
The distances on which the daily stages will take place range from 100km worth of length to 200km.
Services:
The contestants are offered bed & breakfast, dinner, and along the tracks, fuel, Red Bull and water (for more details regarding all services go HERE).
Classification:
The classification will be determined by the time frame in which the track has been crossed, and regarding the teams, it will be determined by the lowest time frame achieved amongst the members.
Classes:
This year the ones who want to enjoy new Hard Enduro challenges will be able to sign up for one of these five classes: - Profesional Class – (single)- you're within top 20 at the Erzberg and the Last Man Standing? you only feel like home in the most difficult sections? If so: Go Pro! (but if you not don't even think about it.....)
- NEW will be Expert Single Class - for past Red Bull Competitors or riders who have competed in Expert class before or prove their skills. Not just as tough as the Pro-class, but still far away from a feel good ride.
- Expert Team Class – (teams of 2) for riders with experience in national competitions, on the same track as the experts single class.
- Hobby Class – (teams of 2-3) unlike the Expert class, this track is shorter and easier, but endurance and experience are a must in order to reach the finish line;
- NEW : Tourist Class – (teams of 2-3) short tracks with low-level difficulty, for enduro riders who want to enjoy the special Red Bull Romaniacs atmosphere but don't need to fight to win. A pure pleasure ride the easy way.
Navigation:
The contestants have to bring their GPS devices for navigation and safety reasons (details in the rulebook).
There are teams waiting to organize a training session for those who don’t have the experience of have never used a GPS device, and will daily upload the track information onto the GPS.
Safety and medical assistance:
A medical helicopter with an intervention team will ensure medical assistance should there be any severe accidents.
There will be ambulances placed alongside the track, and for the low-access areas the first-aid mobile teams, equipped with 4X4 vehicles and cross country motorbikes, will be prepared throughout the event.
