Red Bull Romaniacs 2020 - news update

Dear Competitor

We would like to thank you for your patience and trust. We sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and safe wherever you are in the world. As promised, and exactly two months prior to the event, we are back with news about the 2020 Red Bull Romaniacs. Despite the uncertainties we are all facing, we kept our focus on preparing the race throughout the crisis, with the hope that the health context and public health rules will allow us to move forward with the event and that you guys would be able to travel safely to Romania.

We have done everything in our powers to stay on schedule, with the mindset that if we get the chance to race, we must be prepared. We are still hoping that we will be able to keep our original dates, July 21-25, but we have investigated the viability of potential alternative dates, one option being the last week of August. The final decision will be made based on the approval of authorities and your ability to travel to Romania and it will be communicated by June 15th, the latest.

We see that some travel restrictions are slowly being lifted, airlines are planning to resume operating international flights and Europe is even dreaming of a (limited) holiday season. While everything is constantly changing, there are reasons to be optimistic that by mid-June travel will kick off again.

In the meantime, we keep preparing our race-track (as we have done all winter and spring) and adjust the event to social distancing standards.  In order to preserve the health and safety of all participants, the public and the organizing team, we have implemented a variety of changes to the event format.

The biggest change is that the event will be held without spectators. The City Prologue, usually visited by thousands of motorsport fans, will not be part of the 2020 edition. Instead, we added an off-road qualifying session for the first day of the event. Therefore, all five offroad days will benefit from the fact that Hard Enduro is an individual sport, in which athletes hardly have contact with each other.

Further measures will be taken to limit physical interactions within the team and the competitors - when they are not in the mountains. The work areas in the paddock, the headquarter and the service parks will be rearranged as to ensure a safe distance. The interaction with the organizers during the administrative and technical checks will be done with social distancing measures implemented.  To complete precautionary measures, there will be no Nations Parade ride through the city center. We do our best to reduce physical interactions to a minimum.

Hard Enduro is a sport in which the rider has to constantly adapt to the challenges he faces, we, so are confident that we can do this together.

To summarize the safety measures, we will implement:

  • no prologue (replaced by an extra Off-road Day)
  • no spectators
  • online riders briefing
  • individual registration(scheduled)
  • increase the number of single rooms provided
  • individual meals and take out service available (room catering)
  • no party
  • several other adjustments to allow social distancing

Furthermore, we implemented new rules regarding the refund for the starting fee:

  • Until June 15 we recommend that you keep your starting place, as preparations required to run the event continue
  • If you are certain you will NOT be able to compete and wish to “withdraw from the 2020 event”, please contact our Competitor Manager Cristina Badiu at  cristinab@xventure.net to help you get refunded.
  • Keep in mind that we can transfer your '2020 Registration and payment(s)' to the 2021 event

We hope for your understanding and definitely look forward to see you soon in Sibiu!

Stay tuned for more news.
Keep extreme.
Your RBR team
