Gold competitors flying high over the ramps for the media show. Sibiu streets are filled with riders waving their nation flags past the historical sites.

Sibiu / Hermannstadt, Romania, 25 July 2022
- The 19th edition of Red Bull Romaniacs, In Madness We Trust, made its grand entrance onto the world hard enduro stage today. Over 50 nations' flags delivered colour, unity and a sense of world enduro community out on the streets in the mediaeval heart of Sibiu, a city dating back to the 12th century and Saxon settlers. For some competitors this is an annual pilgrimage, others it is their first experience of Red Bull Romaniacs. All five classes were brought together on a ride past the iconic landmarks of the city in front of waving and cheering Sibiu residents and visitors to the cultural and sporting centre of Romania.

Departing from the paddock the nation's city ride and media show filtered onto Coposu Boulevard where the prolog lay stretched out before them. Gold class riders were presented with a collection of raw materials carefully orchestrated by Andy Fazekas and his team to create a giant obstacle course consisting of logs, rocks, metal and tires all joined together with chains, steel cables and a variety of ramps thrown in for good measure. Press, media and amateur riders watched on as the Gold class completed their first trial run of the much anticipated 2022 prolog. The figure eight configuration is an appealing mix of freestyle motocross and enduro cross, guaranteed to impress the spectators.

The top contenders at this years Red Bull Romaniacs world's toughest hard enduro were presented at the opening press conference, among them was Manuel Lettenbichler (DEU, KTM) - three time winner, Graham Jarvis (GBR, Husqvarna) - six time winner, Alfredo Gomez (ESP), Mario Roman (ESP, Sherco), Taddy Blazusiak (POL, GAS GAS), Trystan Hart (CAN, KTM), Teodor Kabakchiev (BGR), Matthew Green (ZAF), Zsolt Varga (ROU). Along with Matthias Walkner (AUT, KTM) with his rally factory Dakar motorcycle, twin cylinder Tenere 700 master Pol Tarres (AND) and returning Romaniacs veteran Chris Birch (NZL, KTM) on his 500 exc.

How the competitors do on Tuesdays prolog will determine their start positions on Offroad Day 1. The hot temperatures and dry, dusty tracks will surely factor into their decision.

The 35 fastest competitors from the qualifications go on to compete in a multi lap race in an attempt to become the 'Prolog champion of 2022'. This will be in front of thousands of elated action hungry spectators.

Since 2016 the charity project ‘Enduro for Romania’ has been a way for Red Bull Romaniacs to give back to some of the poorer communities who support and welcome the event in their backyards. Enduro products that are no longer being used by competitors are collected at the paddock entrance before and after the event, they are washed and then sold at the entrance to the Prolog to raise funds for designated projects. In 2022 the funds raised will go towards restoring, building & providing equipment for kindergarten playgrounds in Câinenii Mici and Greblești.
